A Su-27 fighter aircraft was scrambled to intercept a R-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft of the German Navy and a Swedish Air Force's Gulf Stream reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea. Both aircraft were approaching Russian airspace when the decision was made to intercept them. Once these aircraft turned away from Russian airspace, the Su-27 returned to base. [1] [4]

Specialist troops of the radiation, chemical and biological (RCB) units of the Baltic Fleet disinfected military offices in Kaliningrad Region. According to Russian sources, the servicemen processed the internal premises of the reception and technical commission of the Baltic Fleet, the regional assembly point and areas around the buildings on the territory of military enlistment offices in nine cities in the Kaliningrad Region. A special solution was used, consisting of a 1.5% aqueous solution of 2/3 calcium hypochlorite for the treatment of buildings and premises where conscripts are to arrive soon. [2]

A total of 32 unexploded ammunitions were defused in the Kaliningrad Region during the weekend. Two 150-mm, five 105-mm and 18 75-mm artillery shells, as well as six fuses were defused on Verkhniye Polya Street in Kaliningrad. An 85-mm artillery shell was reportedly found in a forest near the village of Semenovo of the Gvardeisky urban district. Once defused, the ammunition was brought to an unspecified training ground for subsequent destruction. [3]

Russian sources announce that final checks are ongoing in the Baltic Fleet as part of the conclusion of the summer training period. Weapons and equipment will be inspected an evaluated and servicemen will be tested on technical, tactical, physical and specialist levels. [4]

Around ten Su-24M bomber aircraft of the Naval Aviation Regiment struck several ground targets during a training operation at an unspecified training ground in eastern Kaliningrad. The aircraft were provided with a location, after which they had to asses the situation on the ground and strike targets imitating command posts, fortified positions and troop concentrations. Bombing took place at altitudes between 200 and 2,000 meters. P-50 training bombs were used in this exercise. Russian sources state that combat experience from operations in the Syrian Civil War were taken in account in this exercise. [5]

A communication exercise in the Kaliningrad enclave took place with signalmen practicing secure communications between headquarters and subordinate formations. The signalmen also had to overcome electronic jamming of the main frequency by hostile forces and set up new secure communications on back up frequencies. Over 200 servicemen were involved during the exercise. Russian sources report that upon completion of the exercise, it was marked as 'Excellent'  by the observers. [6]
